Update on Names WWE is Interested in Signing: Roderick Strong, Curt Hawkins, More
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has reportedly shown interest in bringing in Curt Hawkins, James Yun (Jimmy Yang), Volador Jr., and Rush. In the case of Hawkins and Yun, the idea is that they need more bodies for the brand split, so they want to bring back former performers that can still go, and put over the younger talent on TV.
Rush attended a tryout last year; they ended up signing La Sombra (Andrade “Cien” Almas) at the time.
If they bring in Roderick Strong, he will start with a deal similar to Aries, Gargano and Ciampa. This will be to where he could work other independents, and that he doesn’t have to train at the Performance Center. One thing about those deals is that WWE allows guys like Gargano and Ciampa to work the way that they normally would on NXT live events. Some of the NXT contracted talents were upset about this, because they feel that they are taught to wrestle a style that doesn’t get over as much as the style they were wrestling.
