Wheeler Yuta Reflects On AEW Blood & Guts 2025, Fighting Mark Briscoe On Top Of Cage

Wheeler Yuta is a veteran of the AEW Blood & Guts match, and he recently weighed in on being part of this year’s bout. Yuta was part of the Death Riders team against Darby Allin, Roderick Strong, and The Conglomeration in this year’s match. The Death Riders took the loss in a match that saw Yuta climb to the top to fight Mark Briscoe.

Yuta was asked about the match during an appearance on Casual Conversations With the Classic. He spoke about mentally preparing for the match and his spot at the top with Briscoe. You can see highlights below:

On Getting Mentally Ready For Blood & Guts:

“I mean when you have all of this — like at this point I understand how violent it can get. Like, the the way that the second one ended was, they all choked me out with a chain and I passed out in the middle of the ring. And that was in Boston I believe. So yeah, that was how the last one ended. So you know that it can get really violent and it can get really gnarly.

“So definitely, it’s a mental hurdle that you have to sort of get over before you go in there. But once you’re in there, you can’t have any of those reservations or second thoughts. You have to work through all that beforehand, I guess, and just know that it’s going to hurt. It’s going to suck. But at the end of the day, it’s what needs to be done. And it was a lot of fun yet again, despite all the violence. So maybe I’m less sensitive to it now.”

On Being On Top of the Cage With Mark Briscoe:

“I think the scariest part is getting up and down, when you’re climbing up and down from that. Especially when like, by the time I climbed up, I had been wrestling for 45 minutes probably, something like that. So you’re tired, you’re sweaty, I got blood in my eyes. I’m like, ‘All right, here we go.’

“But then once you’re up there, like I said it’s just — you have to focus on the task at hand. The only point where I really kind of thought about it I guess, besides the up and down, was when Mark Briscoe has me upside down for the J-Driller. And I’m up there and I’m like, ‘Well, this could be it. Let’s find out!’ And then you land and it hurts, but I’m alive.”
