Chelsea Green will make her first defense of the WWE Women’s Championship on next week’s episode of WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s episode of Smackdown saw the announcement that Green will face Nia Jax on next week’s show, which will take place in Mexico City.

The match was set up during an in-ring segment. Nick Aldis showed up with a WWE doctor who was there to discuss Green’s injury status and the provision that she had been given 30 days to get cleared and defend the title. He called Green down to the ring and Green said she didn’t care what the doctor said, and how Aldis wasn’t going to take her chance to be a fighting champion away from her. Green said she wasn’t concerned about her safety, only her legacy.

Aldis responded that he was concerned about her safety and it was up to the doctor, who noted that Green’s broken orbital bone is heeling and she is cleared as long as she wears a protective facemask.

That led to Jax coming down with Lash Legend and calling for a match with Green. Tiffany Stratton came down for the save, and Aldis announced that Green will defend her title on next week’s show.

You can see clips from the segment below. Next week’s WWE Smackdown takes place at Arena Mexico in Mexico City and airs live on USA Network in the US and Netflix internationally.
