As we previously reported, one of the reasons behind Baron Corbin’s backstage heat was an argument he had with Dr. Joseph Maroon during a wrestlers meeting. The feeling is that the argument was at the wrong place and the wrong time. It was described as “awkward” and “uncomfortable” and some felt Corbin should have spoke to Maroon about it privately. The incident started because Maroon was said to be downplaying the link between concussions and CTE.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestling Inc) reports that WWE also recently found out that Corbin was involved in a lawsuit over concussions against the NFL, along with other football players.

Dave Meltzer wrote: “It also came out in the discussion that Corbin was one of the players suing the NFL in a concussion lawsuit, which makes things weird given he’s now working as a pro wrestler. Plus WWE apparently wasn’t aware of this fact until this past month.

Prior to this incident, Corbin appeared to be set for a WWE title run as he won the Money in the Bank briefcase. However, he quickly lost a cash-in attempt and then lost to John Cena at Summerslam. Other complaints about Corbin include his use of social media, as he’s had several arguments on Twitter with fans and other wrestlers. In spite of all that, Corbin is currently feuding with AJ Styles over the US title, so the WWE may not have completely abandoned their plans to push him.
