A former member of the WWE Board of Directors believed that Nick Khan leaked the story of Vince McMahon’s hush payments to Janel Grant to the press. Grant posted to her Instagram account on Tuesday to share a new bit of information gleaned from the recently unsealed depositions in the WWE shareholder lawsuit, which had its trial cancelled due to the two sides having a pending agreement to resolve the matter.
Grant’s Instagram post includes deposition transcripts from former CFO Frank Riddick and Michael McKenna, the latter of whom was on the Board of Directors from September 2022 to October 2023. McKenna was describing her thought process around who leaked the story of McMahon’s hush money payments to the Wall Street Journal. The story referenced Grant without name, along with three other individuals to whom McMahon had made payments over sexual misconduct allegations.
McKenna said that she did not think it was anyone on the Board of Directors, as it would not benefit any of them, and she was “more included to think that a member of management or someone who was privy to board meetings and privy to documents, who may have wanted Vince out, was more likely to be the leak than a board members.” She added that the board members “just didn’t strike me as people that would speak to the Wall Street Journal.”
McKenna was asked if she thought it was Stephanie McMahon or Triple H, and answered “I do not” to both. She was asked if she thought it was Khan and replied, “I do.”
When questioned on cross-examination, McKenna acknowledged that “I have no actual knowledge” that Khan was the leaker, noting, “He asked my opinion of who I said was likely, and I said yes, Nick.”
Grant is still in the midst of her lawsuit against McMahon and WWE over her allegations that the disgraced former Chairman and CEO sexually assaulted, abused, and trafficked her. McMahon, who has denied the allegations, resigned from TKO and WWE the day after the lawsuit was filed.
