Roman Reigns is the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble winner. He last eliminated Gunther to secure a world championship match at WrestleMania 42. The OTC will now head to The Show of Shows in Las Vegas to challenge a world champion of his choosing.

While it remains to be seen which champion he goes after, PWInsider is reporting that there has been “heavy discussion” within WWE about a WrestleMania program between Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Punk, of course, is the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, having won the title last November by beating Roman’s cousin, Jey Uso. He has since retained it against Bron Breakker, Finn Balor, and AJ Styles.

WWE has long teased a program between Roman Reigns and CM Punk. It all started when Punk agreed to join Roman’s team for the WarGames match against Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline in 2024 in return for a favor from Paul Heyman.

Punk eliminated Roman from the Rumble match last year and then forced Paul Heyman to walk alongside him for the Triple Threat match against Reigns and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41. As it turned out, Heyman turned on both Punk and Roman during that match and sided with Rollins.

The Best in the World and the OTC again saw themselves on the same side of the fence at last year’s Survivor Series: WarGames, as they battled The Vision. After Punk got pinned by Bron Breakker, Roman and Cody Rhodes had an intense face-off, which led everyone to believe that they are headed for another collision course at WrestleMania.

However, with Cody losing the title to Drew McIntyre earlier this month and currently embroiled in what looks like a blood feud with both McIntyre and Jacob Fatu, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. It will be interesting to see if Roman opts to go after Punk’s title at WrestleMania Vegas.
