WrestleMania is selling slower than it did last year, and a new reports says that WWE held a meeting this week about the matter. As noted over the weekend, the two nights of WrestleMania had sold a touch under 37,000 tickets each night as of Friday. That’s in comparison to over 44,000 at the same time as of last year.
Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that WWE held a multi-department meeting on Wednesday to discuss the ticket sales, which were lower than expected. The report notes that all departments were tasked with finding promotions and strategies to boost both ticket sales and momentum for the show.
There has been a lot of online pushback against WWE’s pricing strategies over the last several months. However, the report notes that WWE plans to keep the ticket pricing as it is for now.
It was also reported over the weekend that WWE’s distributor for WrestleMania was prohibiting watch parties at locations within 50 miles of the venue, which has caused frustration because it runs counter to WrestleMania’s reputation for increasing tourism.
