X-Pac is the latest to speak out about the toxic fan culture that some displayed over WrestleMania weekend, noting that he was assaulted and stalked while there. As noted, CM Punk gained headlines for smacking a phone out of a fan’s hand after WrestleMania 42 night two, after the fan followed Bayley and AJ Lee to where they were trying to have a private moment and filmed them. Bayley had told the guy to “get out of here,” and he went to continue filming, only to have Punk smack the phone down.
The incident has caused a renewed focus on the topic of fans who refuse to respect wrestlers’ boundaries, and X-Pac posted to Twitter to comment on the fan who Punk dealt with wanting an apology. The WWE Hall of Famer wrote:
“That guy & all the rest like him can get f**ked. It was insane how these people were. I got physically assaulted & camera shoved in my face, stalked in the bathroom, & more.”
Booker T had also recounted his experiences, noting that a fan filmed him in the bathroom and that “a lot of them were just outright disrespectful.”
It has been reported that there was a lack of additional security for the event, leaving the talent to deal with the situation themselves. Minutes before Punk’s confrontation, Damian Priest had reportedly had to come to the rescue of a women’s wrestler who was surrounded and mobbed by fans. WWE and TKO have yet to comment on the situation
