Vitor Miranda Discusses His Path to a UFC Title Shot

May 26, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Vitor Miranda recently spoke with MMA Junkie about his fight with Chris Camozzi at UFC Fight Night 88. Here are the highlights…

On Fighting Chris Camozzi : “Chris Camozzi is still young but he’s more experienced than the other fighters I’ve faced,” Miranda said. “He has over 30 fights. He’s more conscientious and I expect him to show up with a well-drawn strategy. He won’t rush and try to win in the first round. For sure, he’s watched my fights. But if he tries to outlast me, I’ll catch him in the second round. I think he’ll show up with the intention to go all three rounds. I don’t think he has great punching power, or is a submission ace. But he is very well-rounded. He feels comfortable on the feet or on the ground. So that makes him dangerous. I have to follow my own strategy to the letter, which is to bang it out. As far as I can tell, he has no losses by knockout. This will be his first. I’m going to impress everyone and further stake my place in the promotion.”

On Working For His Title Shot: “Now is the time to enjoy the fruits of my labor,” Miranda said. “I always envisioned myself in the best promotion in the world. When I fought muay Thai, the best promotion in the world was K-1. After that ended, I had to restructure my career, and start again in a new sport. The focus remained to be in the best promotion in world. So I’m thankful to have reached that goal. I’ll keep training harder so I can crown my career with a title bout in a few years. I want to wrap things up around age 42 or 43. As far a fighting for the belt, I’d like to get there by 38 or 39 years old.”
