Csonka’s WWE Superstars Review 10.14.16

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– The Shining Stars defeated Jared Pimm and Josh Andrews @ 3:50 via pin [*]
– Darren Young defeated Jinder Mahal @ 8:45 via pin [*]

– Tom Stupid Idiot Phillips and Corey Graves are on commentary.

The Shining Stars vs. Jared Pimm and Josh Andrews: The Stars tried to give out pamphlets to their opponents for their resort; it was not appreciated so they attacked. They controlled with ease as they beat down young Mr. Andrews to chants of “lets go jobbers!” Epico hit his three amigos variation, Andrews tried a roll up on Primo and managed a jawbreaker and got the tag. Pimm tried to fire up, but has some issues in the ropes and it came off sloppy so Primo cut him off and beat him down. Epico hit a double underhook gutbuster, sent Andrews to the floor and then hit a sloppy high low for the win. The Shining Stars defeated Jared Pimm and Josh Andrews @ 3:50 via pin [*] It’s matches like this that make you feel like the art of the squash match is dead. The Stars are rarely on TV, these are job guys, how fucking hard is it to have then roll through what should be some signature offense and put these guys away? Instead they got cute, it got sloppy and no one looked good here. This was bad, and everyone involved should feel bad.

– We go back to Raw to see Mick Foley announce that three Hell in a Cell matches are official for the Hell in a Cell PPV. You can read my WWE Raw Review right here!

– Back to Raw once again to see Paul Heyman’s promo on Goldberg. I have absolutely no desire to see a Lesnar vs. Goldberg match in 2016 or 2017, but Heyman did a hell of a job to set it up. You can read my WWE Raw Review right here!

Darren Young w/Bob Backlund vs. Jinder Mahal: Bless Corey Graves for trying to make me care about Mahal, but it just isn’t working. They did some back and forth early, with Young using side headlock takedowns. Mahal took him to the corner and they traded chops. Young then hit a shoulder block, sloppy neck breaker and then a seated senton that looked really bad. Young sent Mahal to the apron, he followed and Mahal then posted him. After the network break, Mahal worked the abdominal stretch to follow up on the pre-break posting. Young escaped but got sent to the ropes neck first and Mahal covered for 2. Mahal slowly worked over Young; it had good focus on the back and neck, but just felt lifeless. Young kept trying to fight back, Mahal would cut him off and cover for 2 and then go back to a chinlock. Young finally hit the belly to back suplex, missed a corner charge but then hit a clothesline and overhead suplex like nothing happened. Young hit the apron back breaker, which got 2 as he looks all spirited and ignoring the minutes of work on his back. Mahal took out the knee and hit a big boot for 2. Young then hit the rolling forearm for 2. Young teased the chicken wing, failed, and hit the gut check for the win, because his back is both fine and dandy. Darren Young defeated Jinder Mahal @ 8:45 via pin [*] Forget making Darren Young great again, could we just make him average? This was no good, besides the sloppiness early and the fact that Mahal may be the blandest worker on the roster, stop dedicating half of the match to working body part only for everyone to ignore it. If you work a body part and then both people ignore it, you’re not working, you’re filling time and when you do that, you’re wasting mine.

– We head back to Raw one more time, and revisit the main event between Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho. It was a really good main event. Jericho felt locked in, they teased the possibility of him winning strongly and Rollins managed to overcome the inured ribs and interference to keep his title match a one on one affair at Hell in a Cell. – End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Do not waste your time unless you missed Raw and want the quick and dirty on the show. There were some embarrassing attempts and professional wrestling on this show.
