Valerie Letourneau Passes Medical Tests and Released From Hospital After UFC Fight Night 89
MMAjunkie reports that Valerie Letourneau was not diagnosed with any serious injuries after her knockout loss to Joanne Calderwood at last night’s UFC Fight Night 89 event. The fight card was held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and broadcast live on FS1. Letourneau did suffer some bumps and bruises, but she did not sustain any serious injuries according to a UFC official and a team rep for Letourneau.
Letourneau lost by TKO in the third round to Calderwood, and she was then taken to a local hospital after the fight. The fight has received some controversy due to its ending sequence, where Letourneau was staggered on her feet and turned her back after receiving a kick to the body, leaving her in clear pain. Calderwood then moved in on Letourneau and continued punching her before the ref fianlly stopped the fight, where many think he stepped in way too late.
Letourneau also underwent a scan to check her liver, per her ATT trainer Mike Brown. She later reportedly received word that she passed all her tests. She was released from the hospital earlier today at about 6AM EST.
