Tom Savini Reveals How He Started Working With WWE
Legendary makeup and effects artist Tom Savini has a long association with WWE, and he discussed when they first started working together in a new interview. Savini is mostly known in terms of his WWE work for his creation of Bray Wyatt’s Fiend mask. However, as he noted during an appearance on Darren Paltrowitz’s Paltrocast, his first connection with WWE came through Chris Jericho.
“I was invited by Chris Jericho to go backstage, because we met him at a convention, and then Jerry Lawler saw me waiting,” Savini said (per Fightful). “From then on, it became, we would go backstage before wrestling matches in the commissary and eat with Jerry Lawler and the wrestlers and then stick around for the matches.”
He continued, “That led to, ‘Hey can you do a mask?’ We did Triple H’s crown for five WrestleManias. It turned into a working relationship with WWE.”
