Giancarlo Esposito says that he’s set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and sooner than you may think. Collider reports that the Breaking Bad and Abigail star said at CCXP during a panel that he has been cast in an upcoming MCU film. Esposito did not tease much about his role, but he said that fans would learn more “sooner rather than later” and that it will be “better than you can imagine.”

Esposito has been a popular fan casting choice to play Charles Xavier when the X-Men come to the MCU, but the site notes that he said he would be playing a different role than the telepathic mutant.

The actor is best known for his work in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but has also made a splash in fan-centric projects like The Mandalorian, The Usual Suspects, and The Boys.

Marvel only has one film set to release in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine which arrives on July 26th. Also set to release in 2024 is the MCU series Agatha. 2025 will see the arrival of MCU films Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four, and Blade.
