GUNTHER Wins World Heavyweight Title at WWE Summerslam, Finn Balor Turns on Damian Priest
The World Heavyweight title changed hands at WWE Summerslam in Cleveland tonight, as GUNTHER defeated Damian Priest. The match ended when Finn Balor, who appeared to be out to support Priest, prevented the champion from retaining. Priest got distracted as a result, allowing GUNTHER to hit a powerbomb and locked in a sleeper to get the win.
This is GUNTHER’s first reign as World Heavyweight champion, and he’s only the fourth champion in the belt’s short history. It ends Priest’s reign, also his first, at 119 days. He won it at Wrestlemania on April 7.
