Hello everyone, it’s time for WWE Smackdown. Tonight Kevin Owens will continue his rampage and demand to no longer be silenced furthering his feud with Cody Rhodes or at least keeping Cody’s name front and center while he deals with Randy Orton. Randy and Owens got into it a little bit last week so letting them continue fighting works while Cody gears up for Gunther in Saudi Arabia. Los Garza of Angel and Berto will take on the debuting Motor City Machine Guns of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Jimmy Uso and tried to get help from Jey on RAW but that didn’t go well, one has to imagine Roman Reigns will make a play to bring Jey back into the family sooner rather than later while Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline continues to run around causing havoc. Logan Paul usually shows up for the Saudi cards so if he’s going to do that again for Crown Jewel he’ll need to start a program sooner rather than later, Carmelo Hayes and Andrade are set to continue their string of good to great matches with another shot at LA Knight’s US title on the line. DIY and the Street Profits are in a bit of limbo after failing to win the tag team titles a couple of weeks ago, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are still looking for challengers to their tag team belts, Nia Jax and Liv Morgan are sniping at each other but no one really cares, Giovanni Vinci has been gone for a few weeks after his damp squib of a reintroduction, Shinsuke Nakamura is still MIA, AJ Styles appears to have suffered a legitimate injury a few weeks ago and could be out of action again, and that’s kind of the way things are right now. So let’s get to the action as Sweet Sweet Saudi Sportswashing looms ahead.

We open with the slightly garish Saudi belt arriving at the arena, then get a recap of the Bloodline stuff from last week plus the interactions between Jimmy and Jey from RAW on Monday.

At the arena we get the new Bloodline showing up first. Corey Graves and Wade Barrett are on commentary, Cole has other things to do tonight it seems. Wade almost immediately misspeaks and calls Jimmy Jey, so we’re off to a strong start. Solo gets a mic and asks for acknowledgement. He calls this the present and future, the Bloodline and the Tribal Chief. He made a bigger and stronger family, and Roman can do nothing about it. Jimmy is likewise impotent, and Jey doesn’t want anything to do with this whole thing. The violence will continue until Roman acknowledges Solo. Jey’s music hits to interrupt this to a very large pop and we see Jey heading down through the crowd. Jey gets a mic of his own and asks his little brother what’s up. He promises he’s not here to fight, he still knows Solo is his little brother. Roman and Jimmy aren’t here yet and Jey is here to talk brother to brother. He asks Solo think about the ramifications of his actions, no one has bigger issues with Roman than Jey, Jey left the family to be his own man and became intercontinental champion. Fighting over the ula fala isn’t the way, it’s earned and not taken. If Solo wants to end Roman’s power then fine but quit dividing the family along the way. Solo isn’t trying to divide anything, he wants to unite the family, and he warns Jey to stop calling him his little brother since he’s the tribal chief. There will always be a place for Jey and Roman in his Bloodline if they acknowledge him. Solo asks Jey if he’s in or out. Jey thinks, then asks if Solo really wants unity then why did he bring in the Tongans and Fatu? They kept them out of here for a reason, then Jey threatens to knock out Fatu if Fatu keeps glaring at him. Jey warns Solo the next time he sees him it’ll be different. Jey then heads out. Solo still can’t monologue but Jey brought out a little spark when they interacted, plus the thought of Jey and Jacob Fatu is a good one.

After this break we’ll get a triple threat tag team match.

Coming back from break the Street Profits head to the ring. The other two teams got the jobbers entrance.

Match #1 – Triple Threat Tag Team Match: DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano) vs. Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) vs. Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) w/ B-Fab

The winners of this match battle winners of a later tag team triple threat match with the winners getting a tag team title shot. Ciampa and Ford start us off with Ford landing a drop kick. We do have one member of each team being legal, Prince was just powdering but he comes in and pisses off Ciampa who chases him around the ring but runs into a jumping uppercut from Wilson. Dawkins then runs over Prince for good measure. Things break down on the floor setting up a Ford dive. Ford and flies into a knee from Ciampa in the ring but only a 2 count. Prince and Wilson get some control on Ciampa and Ford for a bit. Wilson tags in and he and Prince pose then Ford rolls up Prince for 2 and we go picture in picture.

Wilson and Prince resuming working control on Ciampa and Ford. Eventually the avoid some corner attacks and everyone’s down. Double hot tag to Johnny and Dawkins who run wild on both Prince and Wilson, those two actually work really well together. Eventually that breaks down and Dawkins catches a diving Johnny with a spinning neckbreaker. Hurricanrana from Johnny then he tags in Ciampa who knees Wilson for a 2 count. Ciampa chops away at Wilson for a while then puts him on the top rope and sets for an avalanche Air Raid Crash which connects as we come back to the broadcast. Ford then hits a 450 on Ciampa for a 2 count as Johnny breaks up the pin. Dawkins and Johnny trade punches then Prince takes out Dawkins with a clothesline. Ciampa winds up isolated by the Profits but Wilson tries to steal the pin only to get a 2 count. Prince tags in but Ford breaks up Spilt Milk with superkicks. Prince crotches Ford on the top rope and tags out, they set to double superplex Ford but Dawkins breaks that up and Prince takes the Doomsday Blockbuster. Wilson eats Meet in the Middle and Ciampa pins him while Ford try to pin Prince but Wilson was the legal member of Pretty Deadly so DIY win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: DIY won in 8:10

Rating: 2.5 stars
Thoughts: Fun sprint from these three teams, and the way it ended does allow the Profits to still look strong despite not winning.

We get a recap of the women’s stuff from last week.

We’ll get Bayley and Naomi vs. Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton, again. Anyway that announcement sends us to break.

We come back to the arrival of Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso. They walk and find Jey, Jey and Roman glare then Roman stops Jey from leaving. Roman says he’s proud of Jey, everyone is. Jey responds with “no yeet” and then walks off. Roman isn’t surprised and walks off, Jimmy seems upset.

We see Nia Jax with Nick Aldis and Jax is on the phone with Tiffany who seems to have some illness and isn’t here. She assumes her match is off but Nick says she should find another partner. In walk Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. Candice would be willing to help Jax out and Nick books it. Jax tells Candice if she doesn’t hold up her end tonight she’ll end her.

To the ring where Piper Niven heads to the ring with Chelsea Green in tow, Piper will be in singles action against Lash Legend after this break.

Lash is making her way to the ring as we come back.

Match #2: Piper Niven w/ Chelsea Green vs. Lash Legend w/ Jakara Jackson

Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are in the crowd. Piper and Lash square up and trade shoves then Lash grabs a headlock but still can’t knock over Piper. Piper avoids a punch then does knock Lash over. Lash avoids the low crossbody then hits a pump kick and a little splash for a 2 count. Piper with an ST-Joe then a senton for her own 2 count. The crowd does not care about this as Lash avoids a corner cannonball. Lash with some strikes then Piper avoids a chokeslam. Lash tries to pick up Piper, doesn’t really work and Piper then tries a crossbody but Lash catches her long enough to hit a slam. Green distracts Lash and Jackson tosses her into a barricade but that allows Piper to hit a corner avalanche then miss a second rope move, my feed stutters but Lash hit her finish to get the pin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Lash Legend won in 3:07

Thoughts: Kind of heatless but Lash got to show off her strength at least.

After this break we’ll get some promo time with the Saudi belt.

Roman and Jimmy are in the back and Jimmy again tells Roman he should take to Jey. Roman says if the wise man was here this would be done by now. He tried this Jimmy’s way, now he’s going to try it his. Jimmy wants details, Roman posits acknowledging Solo.

The Saudi belt is on display in the ring and out comes WWE champion Cody Rhodes. Cody plays with the crowd first then says he heard a truism in WWE champions that the next one isn’t like the last. With the Crown Jewel title on display it’s about who’s the first one. So many what ifs through the years, what if Bruno Sammartino wrestled Harley Race, or Nick Bockwinkle wrestled Ric Flair. Or Goldberg vs. Stone Cold. Even when we got those matches we frequently got clever outs. Well at Crown Jewel there will be a definitive winner. Cody is not going to disparage Gunther, he’s respected by everyone and could chop down a tree. Cody isn’t scared of him, but even if he was he wouldn’t bet against himself. He thinks he’s winning this title and puts the belt over, but more relevantly we all know he wanted the John Cena schedule. He’s been doing that night in and night out, he’s paid the price and will continue to do so. But the real reason he thinks he’s going to win is his daughter back home, so that when he’s gone his name still matters, the name she carries as well. To close he invites Gunther to Smackdown next week for a face to face. A little on the rambling side but not a bad Cody promo.

We do get another recap of Kevin Owens jumping Cody and then everything from last week. That leads to a video from Owens explaining himself. He’s been here for 10 years and has had a lot of ups and downs, but things right now might be the lowest. People have told him to stay home because of what he did, and that’s unfair. Look at what they’ve allowed in the past, and for some reason he’s the one told to stay away? Why? Because he dropped their golden boy outside of his bus? The whole things makes him wonder how much he’s valued by WWE. Frankly he could deal with that though, but Randy Orton siding against him is something he can’t deal with. He would have never done that to Randy. He thought what they had was different. With everything going on he isn’t sure if or when he might come back. OK then.

In the back Randy finds Nick Aldis and wants to talk. Randy doesn’t know what the plans are but he wants to wrestle Owens at Crown Jewel. Aldis can’t make that happen, Randy isn’t asking permission. Aldis can’t because there are higher orders. Randy understands, so he now knows who he needs to talk to.

To the ring where A-Town Down Under head to the ring to no reaction. They freely mention the Machine Guns are in this next match, odd way to have gone about this whole thing after hyping them up for the past weeks. Anyway after this break we’ll get that tag team triple threat match.

The Guns get their entrance as we come back, pretty good pop for them.

Match #3 – Triple Threat Tag Team Match: A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) vs. Los Garza (Angel and Berto) w/ Elektra Lopez vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

27 minutes between matches for the record. Sabin, Angel, and Waller start with Waller and Angel attacking Sabin. Sabin fights back then heads up for a double crossbody. Missed kick from Sabin but Waller sells anyway. Shelley tags in and he and Sabin with stereo baseball slides then evade Berto and Theory. Shelley opens the ropes and Sabin hits a dive. Waller takes them out but then gets double teamed by Sabin and Shelley. Waller is sent back into the ring where Shelley begins working the arm but he runs into a rolling elbow. Theory tags in and we go picture in picture.

Berto tags in and starts kicking at Shelley. Low dropkick from Berto to Shelley, Theory is down selling. Berto puts Shelly in the tree of woe but Theory intercepts his attack with a back elbow. Shelly starts chopping at Theory, Theory responds with knees then tags in Waller. Things break down just a bit before Berto settles things down and clotheslines Shelley. Berto and Angel double team Shelley for a bit before Waller complicates things. Angel and Berto with a double press on Shelley into a double Snake Eyes then the old high low. Waller gets kicked by Angel then he and Theory with moonsaults to the floor. Waller clotheslines Angel then tosses Berto into the barricade. Shelley counters the rolling Flatliner then he and Sabin with a double team move. Jawbreaker to Angel, Berto blind tags and there’s a stack by Angel setting up a Doomsday dropkick to Waller and falling front slam to Shelley. Theory tags in and hits the rolling dropkick. Theory then disposes of Berto, Sabin with a blind tag then the Guns hit their finish on Theory to get the pin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Motor City Machine Guns won in 8:50

Rating: 2.5 stars
Thoughts: Solid enough debut for the Guns but the commercial break hurt this one.

In the back Andrade and Carmelo Hayes get into a scuffle, Hayes a chain shot to get some control before officials break it up.

Naomi heads to the ring for our next match, which will get the rest of the entrances after this break.

Candice has made her way to the ring during break, as did Bayley. Bayley getting the dark entrance is a little surprising. Nia Jax then heads to the ring.

Match #4 – Tag Team Match: Nia Jax and Candice LeRae w/ Indi Hartwell vs. Naomi and Bayley

Jax avoids a cheap shot from Bayley and hits her with a hip attack in the corner. Candice tags in but Bayley clubs her down. Naomi tags in now and she kicks away at Candice. Jax looks disappointed and Candice scurries over to tag out. Jax misses a corner rush then Naomi hits her but that pisses Jax off who drops her onto the mat face first. Spinebuster to Naomi then a senton but only a 2 count. That sends us to break.

Bayley and Candice both tag in as we come back and Bayley bullies Candice for a while. Snake Eyes to Candice then Bayley Sunset Flips her into the corner and Jax has to break up the pin. Naomi kicks Jax then hits a Heatseeker on the apron. Naomi with a suicide dive onto Jax but Candice punches Bayley when she tries to dive. Candice gets yanked down onto the apron then sent into the ring. Indi shoves Bayley into the ring post then sends her into the ring where Candice hits a Lionsault to get the pin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Nia Jax and Candice LeRae won in 7:32

Rating: 2 stars
Thoughts: Could have been higher but the commercial break gutted this one. I’m surprised by the result but positioning Candice as replacing Tiffany when Tiffany breaks away from Jax makes a degree of sense.

Next week we’ll get Cody and Gunther face to face, MCMG vs. DIY for a shot at the tag team titles, and the seventh match between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes.

In the back Nick Aldis talks with Byron, he adds a stipulation to the seventh bout between Andrade and Hayes and LA Knight will be the special guest ref. Knight says he’ll call it down the middle, but the winner will still just get smacked back to factory settings.

Roman Reigns heads to the ring and we head to break.

Roman is in the ring as we come back and he soaks in some “OTC” chants. First he gets the crowd to acknowledge him by saying it might be for the last time and they do so. Solo Sikoa then heads down to the ring dressed in his wrestling gear, and without his entourage. Solo gets a mic as well and the two men circle each other. Roman brings up Solo saying that their family is stronger now, that the Bloodline is stronger. Well Roman doesn’t see it. Nothing tells him they’re better off now, they’re divided and broken up. Despite everything they went through in spring and everything they lost over the summer, now they’re even more divided. He told his father that he could fix this, all Roman wants is to put everyone back in the promised land. Titles for them, paydays falling from the heavens, he wants to know what he has to do to fix this. Solo laughs and says all Roman has to do is acknowledge him. Roman thinks, then says he acknowledges Solo, does that make Solo feel better? Solo says that’s not good enough, he needs Roman to acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief. He needs Roman to acknowledge him like that, or else. Roman: Or else what?! Solo knew he could prove that Roman couldn’t change. Well if Roman can’t change, Solo wont change either. Solo snaps his fingers for backup and out come Fatu and Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga dragging a fallen Jimmy Uso. Roman avoids a shot from Solo and starts brawling then sends him out of the ring. Roman runs wild on the Tongans then clubs down Fatu. Superman punch for Solo and Roman looks at the ula fala on the mat, he picks it up but Solo with a low blow as Roman is donning it. Tama and Loa swarm on Roman, Fatu enters the picture as well to hit the Impaler DDT. The heels swarm for a bit longer then set for the Samoan Spike to Roman which Solo hits. The heels stand tall yet again as Solo hits another Spike to Roman.
