Powerhouse Hobbs is officially on board with WWE, signing a contract to the company according to a new report. As previously reported, Hobbs’ AEW contract expired last week without being renewed. Hobbs was expected to go to WWE, and Fightful reports that he is officially under contract with the company.

As was previously noted, AEW made an effort to retain Hobbs and made offers all the way up to last week before the deal expired. The offer was said to be “huge,” but Hobbs had made up his mind. He reportedly tried not to burn any bridges on the way out of the company, and completed his commitments including last week’s AEW Collision when The Opps lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Hangman Page and JetSpeed.

There’s no word on exactly when Hobbs will make his debut on WWE TV. WWE Smackdown takes place tomorrow, plus Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. And of course, all of this is just before the WWE Royal Rumble next weekend.

It is also not yet clear what name Hobbs will use. It was noted that his name will likely be at least altered from his AEW name although “Hobbs” remains a possibility.
