Note on Why Vince McMahon Changed Christian’s Entrance Theme Upon WWE Return in 2009

Christian had a banger entrance song, “Just Close Your Eyes,” by Waterproof Blonde, in the WWE before he left for TNA Wrestling in 2005.
However, four years later, in February 2009, when Captain Charisma returned to the company, his theme was changed to “Story of the Year.”
In the latest edition of Fightful Select’s Q&A session, a user asked Sean Ross Sapp why Vince McMahon felt the need to change it. According to Sapp, Vince did that because he was of the belief that babyfaces shouldn’t have female singers for their theme songs.
Sapp added that he was told by people who worked in the music department of the company at the time that it cost WWE a lot of money to have the song re-done by “an active, popular music act” rather than just use the version from Waterproof Blonde, which had split up by then.
Christian is currently a part of All Elite Wrestling. He reunited with long-time friend Adam Copeland, i.e., Edge, last year and recently challenged FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
