Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, host Bryan Alvarez commented on recent WWE releases, stating that more might be coming. Alvarez also stated that last Friday (May 1), he was told that MFT member Tama Tonga would be released by WWE.
Alvarez reposted on the latest releases following last week’s SmackDown (via WrestlingNews.co), “Ever since Friday’s show, we had more people released from WWE. There may be more coming. In fact, a few of the people that were announced this weekend had actually been released a while ago, and it just wasn’t announced until this weekend, so I believe there might be others as well.”
Alvarez also reported on Tama Tonga, “I can also tell you as a reporter that on Friday night, I was told that Tama Tonga was gone. Turns out he wasn’t released the next day. I don’t know what that means. I can just tell you what I was told.”
Last week’s WWE SmackDown ended with Jacob Fatu taking out The MFTs (Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga). However, Tama Tonga did not appear on the latest episode. Currently, Tama Tonga is still listed as part of the SmackDown roster on WWE.com.
