Stephanie McMahon Debunks Viral WWE Payback 2014 Pee Rumor After Brie Bella Slap

Stephanie McMahon has finally addressed one of the most-talked-about questions from her WWE career. She made it clear that she did not pee herself after Brie Bella slapped her during their 2014 storyline.

At Payback 2014, Stephanie McMahon forced then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan to relinquish the title, or she would fire his wife, Brie. However, Brie announced she would quit herself and slapped McMahon after the latter laughed at her. The slap eventually led to massive fan discussion on whether Stephanie had peed herself following the impact.

The topic came up during a recent episode of What’s Your Story?, which featured Brie Bella as a guest. Looking back on their feud, Stephanie debunked the rumor that had followed her for years after the segment aired. She joked that people became convinced Brie had hit her so hard that she lost control and peed herself, even though it seemed that way due to the light and shadow.

“So I, you know, when we did the segment when you slapped me, do you know everybody thought I peed myself after? Yes. So apparently, this was not what they wanted me to bring up, but since we’re going here. Like, I guess it was just the shadow, like the way my- because I would admit it if that happened, you know- but it’s like, I guess there was a shadow and people… Yeah, it blew up that, like, you made me pee myself because you hit me so hard. You did hit me hard, though. You did,” McMahon said.

During the podcast, Brie also recalled how chaotic things were behind the scenes before the segment as Vince McMahon kept changing the script even when everyone was waiting in Gorilla Position. Instead of following a fixed promo, Stephanie ended up asking questions on the fly before Brie made her entrance.

“Okay. Can we talk about, I don’t know if you remember this. So do you remember how the script kept changing? And then, literally, we’re in Gorilla, and your dad was like, ‘Wait, I think it should be something else.’ And you were kind of like, ‘What?’ And then you looked at Brian and I, and you go, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna ask you guys questions. Just answer them. And we know, Brie, at the end, you’re quitting.’ And your music hit, and you left, and I looked at Brian, and I go, ‘Wait, so what game plan is it?’ And he goes, ‘she’s gonna ask us,'” Bella recalled.

Stephanie said that wasn’t unusual during that era, explaining that talent often had to adapt moments before walking through the curtain:

“Because we knew what we needed to end with, right? Well, because you didn’t have a choice. No. Because that was not unusual for promos to change last minute like that. And you just have to be able to go with it.”
