Steve Maclin Says It’s Very Humbling To Wrestle Adam Copeland

During a recent interview with TSN, former TNA Wrestling star, Impact World Champion, and TNA International Champion Steve Maclin discussed his career, wrestling Adam Copeland and being one of Cope’s handpicked opponents, and more. Below are some highlights from TSN:
Steve Maclin on Adam Copeland Handpicking Him as an Opponent
“It’s very humbling. I dunno, it’s just a cool feeling where you think in your career, you’re not doing what you’re supposed to do, or you’re not as good as you think you are, and then you finally get that moment of somebody picking you in a situation like this with Adam. Then for me and him to be chatting and having conversations like we have in the past, it’s just fun. He appreciates the body of work that I’ve put out there, and to just get that from my peers is so cool – and, also, to call Adam Copeland a peer is still odd to me, but it’s also very cool, too.”
On How He Used To Play With Copeland’s Action Figures as a Kid
“Here I was with my figures as a kid, 11, 12 years old and still playing with my wrestling figures, using Adam Copeland as me as if I were him,” Maclin said. “So it’s going to be a full circle moment for me emotionally, I think, standing across from him. I’ve even told my wife, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to look at him.’ It’s just going to be one of those moments like, ‘Holy s—, here we are. How did this happen?’”
Steve Maclin is set for one of the biggest matchups of his career to date at this weekend’s MLP Northern Rising 2026 event. He will face off against AEW star Adam Copeland in a singles bout. The event takes place on Saturday, October 3. It will be held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
