Update On Rey Mysterio Potentially Retiring Next Year

There has reportedly been a lot of talk within WWE about Rey Mysterio potentially retiring from the ring next year. WrestleVotes Radio On Fightful Select has the update, citing a source who indicated that “recent chatter” at WWE TV tapings has pointed to the possibility that the WWE Hall of Famer will end his in-ring career in 2027.

It should be made clear that this is based on backstage discussion. That same source said that while they don’t have direct knowledge of when or where Mysterio would officially retire, WWE has discussed ideas on how to present his exit from the ring.

It is believed by many within the company that once he retires from the ring, Mysterio will remain active backstage much like AJ Styles has been since, helping to develop talent in WWE and AAA.

Mysterio said in September that he was enjoying the moments as they come” and that “I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me.”
