Comment: The rematch pitting UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic against Francis Ngannou is official for UFC 260 in March. They first fought three years ago and Miocic was a unanimous decision in which he was deemed the winner of each round. Although Ngannou lost his next fight to Derrick Lewis, by three-round decision, each of his last four fights have ended in first round knockouts.
Meanwhile, like a cloud hanging above this weight class, Jon Jones has been hyping his debut by showing off his 250-pound frame. There is no uncertainty involved, he is intent on becoming the best heavyweight in the world. We do not yet know how the UFC is eyeing his first fight and how he may factor into the title picture, or how soon he may factor into it. Throwing Jones into the mix here and it’s difficult to recall a time in recent memory where there have been so many viable contenders for the top of the heavyweight division.

Comment: A win in this match-up by Ngannou would be historic as he would become the first Cameroonian and French fighter to become UFC champion. However, a loss, and it begs to question how long it would take for him to storm back and get another title shot. It took him three years since his first crack at Miocic. Ngannou will turn 35-years-old later this year, does he have another three year window as a top fighter?

Comment: With the Miocic/Ngannou title fight official for March, there’s a lot of fights taking place that will settle who will be the next contender for whomever the champion will be. Blaydes has to be considered the favorite and if he beats Derrick Lewis next month, how can you argue against him earning his first UFC title fight?
