Ben Nguyen Says UFC Fight Night 110 Win Helped Prove What He Can Do
Ben Nguyen spoke with MMAjunkie following his win over Tim Elliott at UFC Fight Night 110. Highlights are below:
On the statement behind the win: “Beating a guy like Tim Elliott puts you way past the top 10, for sure. And I put him up there with my previous opponent, Joseph Benavidez. They’ve seen me fight that tattooed guy (Julian Wallace, whom Nguyen famously fought at Nitro MMA in 2014), and they think I’m just a big star because of that. But I think I’ve proven myself in the octagon, especially after fighting Tim Elliott and beating him in such a fashion.”
On being nervous before the fight: “For some reason I was really nervous for this fight. I was really – I was waking up in the middle of the night in the sweats or something. I was like, ‘Why am I acting this way?’ But it turned out great, man.”
On what’s next for him: “The division is up in the air; I don’t even know who’s going to be the champion in the next few days. I don’t know. Is that big matchup going to happen, D.J. vs. T.J. (Dillashaw)? I don’t know. I just – keep fighting and winning. That’s all I need to do.”
