Dan Henderson and Jon Jones to Lock Up in a Wrestling Bout at Submission Underground 2
Dan Henderson and Jon Jones are set to face off in a grappling match at Submission Underground 2. Promoter Chael Sonnen told MMAjunkie that verbal agreements are in place for the match, which will main event the December 11th event from Portland, Oregn. The card will stream via FloCombat.com.
Henderson and Jones were originally set to face off back at UFC 151 but an injury to Henderson led to the fight being canceled. UFC fighters are usually banned from being part of “dangerous activities” but the company has made exception for grappling tournaments. The UFC has yet to comment on the development. Jones was suspended for a year today from an independent arbitration panel for his failing a USADA out-of-competition drug test just before his canceled fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.
The Oregon State Athletic Commission does not regulate grappling events, so Jones’ suspension will not keep him from competing at the show.
