Mickey Gall Reveals Sage Northcutt’s Trash-Talk in the Cage, Calls Out Dan Hardy
Mickey Gall spoke about his UFC on FOX 22 win over Sage Northcutt at the post-fight press conference. Highlights are below:
On getting under Northcutt’s skin: “You saw how the fight went down. I think it helped me.”
On Northcutt’s trash-talking during the fight: “He said, ‘Get up, get up,’ and I was like, ‘No, why don’t you come down – I thought your jiu-jitsu is better than mine.’ Because he said that in the (preview) show. And then I got up and I’m like, ‘What are you tired?’ And he said, ‘I never get tired.’ I gotta say, I like Sage with an edge.”
On wanting to face Dan Hardy: “I did some Googling, and he said he wants to come back, and he wants a marquee fight. I think he would look at me and say that’s a nice fight for me. Hopefully, he’ll take that bait. But for real, I’m a big fan of his, and it would be an honor to fight him. Big names make nice trophies. I’m tossing out a Hail Mary, like I did with CM Punk. If it doesn’t happen, that’s OK. I’d love to see him come back. I’d definitely like to see him fight me.”
On Hardy asking ‘Was he old enough to watch the UFC when I was still fighting?’: “The first UFC I ever went to was him versus (Georges St-Pierre) for the title (at UFC 111) in New Jersey. Yeah, I saw Dan Hardy fight. A lot.”
