Tito Ortiz Resigns From Huntington Beach City Council

Tito Ortiz has given up his political office, citing “character assassination” and leaks at City Hall as his reasoning. OC Register reporter Susan Golding posted to Twitter on Tuesday to report that the UFC alumnus resigned from his position on the Huntington Beach City Council, a position he was elected to in November. She wrote:

“Tito Ortiz just resigned from the Huntington Beach City Council claiming character assassination by media and leaks at city hall”

Ortiz had a short but eventful time as a member of the city council. Shortly after he was elected he was refused entry into a planning meeting because he refused to wear a mask, which was a part of the platform he ran on. He called into the meeting from his car. He also drew headlines when he applied for unemployment in February despite being in office, which he was paid for as a part-time position, and owning two businesses.
