Tito Ortiz’s Win Over Alberto El Patron Overturned By Texas Commission
Tito Ortiz’s win over Alberto El Patron from December has been overturned pending an investigation. MMAjunkie reports that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has overturned the victory, which saw Ortiz submit El Patron by rear-naked choke at the December 8th, 2019 Combate Americas show. The fight now reflects as a No Contest on both fighters’ records.
Combate Americas officials were informed of the overturning on Tuesday. TLDR public information officer Tela Mange told the site that “The results of the fight were changed pending further investigation.”
Details are not yet available regarding why the fight is being investigated, and Mange said the TDLR could not elaborate on the situation. It is conceivable that once the investigation completes, the win could be reinstated. Since that fight, Ortiz has kept busy and recently trained at the WWE Performance Center in pursuit of a potential pro wrestling career.
The stipulation surrounding the Combate Americas fight was that the loser would have to hand over their most prized possession, with El Patron giving his WWE Championship title as a result. No word on what will happen there as a result of the overturning.
