Two More Fights Canceled For UFC 223 Due to Injuries From Conor McGregor Attack
Conor McGregor’s assault on a bus of fighters on Thursday (April 5) has resulted in two more fights being canceled from UFC 223. In addition to Artem Lobov vs. Alex Caceres being scratched due to Lobov’s involvement with the fight, Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis and Ray Borg vs. Brandon Moreno are no longer taking place.
Chiesa revealed that his fight was cancelled on Twitter when he said that the New York State Athletic Commission made the decision to pull him, while ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports that Borg vs. Moreno was pulled because of injuries to Borg suffered in the attack. Chiesa was reportedly “all cut up” and sent to the hospital, while Borg is having eye issues due to glass particles let loose in the assault.
Chiesa noted that he’d like to face his planned opponent, Anthony Pettis, at the company’s June 9th show. UFC 223 takes place on Saturday and airs live on PPV.
A decision was made by the New York State Athletic Commission to pull me from UFC 223. I’m devastated to say the least. @Showtimepettis I hope to run this match up ASAP, June 9th in your backyard. That’s all I have to say for now. Much love.

Per sources, Chiesa/Pettis and Borg/Moreno are both off. Chiesa’s facial cuts, and his weight cut was thrown off. Borg started to experience problems with his eye, from the particles of glass.
