UFC Signs Kickboxer Gokhan Saki
MMA Junkie reports that the UFC has signed kickboxer Gokhan Saki (0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to a deal, although they haven’t set a debut date or opponent. It’s possible that he could debut at the UFC’s upcoming Fight Night show in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which is Saki’s home country. It happens on September 2nd at the Ahoy Rotterdam and streams on UFC Fight Pass.
Saki’s only MMA fight was a TKO loss thirteen years ago to James Zikic in Liverpool, England. His kickboxing career includes 83 wins and 16 losses, with 59 of his wins from knockout. He began his career in 2000 and was called the “Turkish Tyson.” He’s had kickboxing wins over Ray Sefo, Melvin Manhoef and two over Tyrone Spong. He also fought Alistair Overeem but lost by TKO due to a broken arm in the first round back in 2010. He’s also a former GLORY light heayyweight champion and GLORY light heavyweight tournament champion, as well as a world, Dutch and European muay Thai champion.
