Adam Wingard Not Returning to Direct Next Godzilla x Kong Film

Adam Wingard is done directing kaiju for the time being, as he will not be directing the next Godzilla x Kong film. THR reports that Wingard, who directed Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, will not be returning for the next film. The site reports that the split is simply a timing issue and that the door is open for a future return.

As previously reported, Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is set to write the sequel to Godzilla X Kong, which has been a massive hit for Warner Bros. and Legendary. Wingard is set to direct his next film, and original action-thriller titled Onslaught which will shoot this fall through A24.

No word on the plot details or director plans for the new MonsterVerse film as of yet.
