Black Christmas Remake Earns PG-13 Rating
The newest remake of Black Christmas is coming into theaters with a PG-13 rating, but the writer promises it will still be “vicious.” The MPAA gave the upcoming Sophia Takal-directed remake on the 1974 classic a PG-13 rating for “Violence, terror, thematic content involving sexual assault, language, sexual material and drinking.”
PG-13 horror is a controversial topic among horror fans, and people have already begun expressing their opinion about this film taking that route. The previous two films both earned strong R ratings, and co-writer April Wolfe posted to Twitter explaining why this one went different:
Here’s the deal: We wrote it with an R in mind. When they did the test screenings, was clear that this movie needed to be available to a younger female audience because the subject matter is timely. Also I want to indoctrinate girls into horror. Doesn’t make it any less vicious! https://t.co/UMOdU3HQ4E

The film will open on December 13th and stars Imogen Poots, Cary Elwes, Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue and Caleb Eberhardt.
