Comedian Louie Anderson Passes Away Due To Blood Cancer
TMZ reports that another comedy great has left us, as Louie Anderson has passed away at the age of 68 following a battle with blood cancer. Anderson had been battling Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma for an undisclosed amount of time. He died this morning in a Las Vegas hospital.
Anderson was named one of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all-time by Comedy Central and has won three Emmy awards. He made his television debut on The Tonight Show in 1984, and would go on to have a career in acting. He’s best known for his role in Coming to America and winning the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the FX show Baskets. For people of a certain age, you might remember the animated series based on his childhood, Life with Louie, which he narrated and did the voices for. That show ran from 1994 to 1998 on Fox Kids and won him two Emmys for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program.
He was also the host of Family Feud from 1999 to 2002, before Richard Karn took his place. He was still touring worldwide as a stand-up comedian before his recent hospitalization. Just last year he made headlines for dropping 30-40 pounds during the pandemic, which he credited to intermittent fasting.
411 would like to give our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Mr. Anderson.
