Devon Sawa and Others Join Chucky TV Series
Collider reports that production is set to begin on the upcoming Chucky TV series, with several cast members announced.
That list includes Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands) in a major role, along with series leads Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN15) and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless.)
The TV series, which will air on USA and SYFY, will continue the continuity from the original films, briefly skipped for the 2019 Child’s Play remake that series creator Don Mancini had nothing to do with. That means that Brad Dourif (Chucky) and Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany) will both be back to reprise their roles. Mancini will be back for the series as the writer and director of the first episode, as well as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Nick Antosca (Hannibal, Channel Zero), David Kirschner (Child’s Play) and Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks).
Here’s a synopsis: After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
The series was originally set to begin production last year in Toronto, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s currently expected to air later this year.
