First Fantasy Island Trailer Reveals Remake’s Horror Direction

The first trailer for Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island remake makes it quite clear that this will be a very different story than the TV show it’s based on. Sony Pictures released the first trailer for the film, which you can see below. It starts off looking very much like a modern take on the classic Gene Levitt television series, but things quickly take a very dark turn. The film stars Michael Peña, Maggie Q, Lucy Hale, Austin Stowell, Portia Doubleday, Jimmy O. Yang, Ryan Hansen, and Michael Rooker and opens on February 20th.

In Blumhouse’s new spin on Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.
