Netflix has finally released a new trailer for Season 2 of The Witcher, featuring the return of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia as he seeks to protect and train his child of destiny, Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan). The new season is set to drop on the streaming service next month. The video is available below.

The show was recently renewed for Season 3 ahead of Season 2’s launch. In Season 2, Geralt seeks to continue protecting Ciri as war rages between Nilfgaard and the northern territories of the Continent. Here’s an official synopsis:

“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”

More spinoffs are also in the works for the franchise, including a “Kids and Family” series set in the world, a second anime feature film, along with the previously announced live-action prequel series Blood Origin.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Kim Bodnia joins the cast this season as Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir. Season 2 premieres on December 17 on Netflix.
