Ghostbusters Animated Feature Film & Series In the Works

Ghostbusters is expanding back into the animated foray, with both an animated feature film and series in the works. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Animation is teaming with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan for an untitled film, based on a script by Brenda Hsueh. Chris Prynoski and Jennifer Kluska are set to direct the film.

In addition, Netflix announced that an animated series from Reitman and Kenan is in the works. The two will executive produce the series, which was announced as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week.

Plot details have not yet been revealed for either the film or the animated series. The new spinoffs follow the successful Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which grossed $204.6 million worldwide against a budget of $75 million.
