Hamilton, Borat Subsequent Movefilm Top 2020’s Most Watched Streaming Films So Far

2020 is year that if you were watching films, they were probably streaming — and according to stats, it’s probably Hamilton or the Borat sequel. Variety reports that according to ScreenEngine/ASI, the two films are the top-two watched of the year so far on subscription VOD services with the Lin-Manuel Miranda film taking the crown so far.

While streaming services have been largely private about their viewing data, ScreenEngine/ASI got the information by surveying 1,200 viewers in the US between 13 and 64 on a weekly basis regarding which films they’ve watched in the seven days following their release. Disney+’s Hamilton came in at #1 followed by Borat Subsequent Moviefilm on Amazon Prime Video, then the Dave Bautista comedy My Spy at #3. Netflix didn’t show up until #4 with the Chris Hemsworth action flick Extraction, but from there Netflix dominated the way down with 13 of the top 30. Disney had eight titles in the top 30 and Amazon had four, with HBO Max and Hulu both registering two. Apple TV+ had one, the Tom Hanks film Greyhound:
