HBO Considering Three New Game of Thrones Spinoff Ideas
HBO is continuing to explore potential spin-offs for Game of Thrones including a new series set in King’s Landing and more. Deadline reports that the premium cabler is developing three new series in addition to the previous potential spin-off shows. 9 Voyages or Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, and 10,000 Ships. Of the three, the 9 Voyages/Sea Snake series is the most fully formed and has a creative team that includes Bruno Heller developing it. The other two do not yet have writers attached.
9 Voyages would focus on the sea voyages of Corlys Velaryon aboard his ship, the Sea Snake, where he visited a host of locations from Pentos and Dragonstone to Myr and beyond, to the lands of Yi Ti and Leng. Flea Bottom, meanwhile, would be set in the poor slums district of King’s Landing that was heavily featured in the first four seasons of the main show. Finally, 10,000 Ships would take place around 1,000 years before the main series and would center on the journey made by Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars as they travel from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War.
The new potential shows join the previously-reported animated series for HBO Max and the Dunk & Egg series, both of which are in consideration, along with the prequel series House of the Dragon which is in production.
