Legendary Taps New Director For Godzilla x Kong Sequel
Legendary’s Godzilla x Kong sequel officially has its next director. As reported late last month, Adam Wingard is stepping away from the franchise for the time being after having directed the last two MonsterVerse films. THR reports that the studio has their new director in Grant Sputore.
The new film was set earlier in May with Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) writing. The film will be a continuation of the franchise and was a foregone conclusion after Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire became the highest-grossing film in the franchise with $565.1 million worldwide from a $135 million budget.
Sputore made their feature directorial debut in 2019 with the Netflix sci-fi thriller I Am Mother. No word as of yet on when specific plot details, cast, or a possible release date.
