Mikey Madison In Talks To Star In The Masque of the Red Death For A24

Mikey Madison is circling her first post-Anora project in a re-adaptation of The Masque of the Red Death for A24. THR reports that Madison, who won Best Actress for her role in Anora, is in talks to replace Sydney Sweeney in the A24 film, which will be a new take from Charlie Polinger on the classic Edgar Allen Poe story.

Sweeney reportedly had to exit the role due to scheduling problems resulting from a busy year and Madison, who has been careful picking her follow-up role to Anora is in negotiations to take her place in the double role of twins. The film is described as a “quintessential A24 movie” and starts with the same premise as Poe’s story about a mad prince taking in the noble class during a plaque. According to THR, it “sees a long-lost twin, hidden among the lower class, enter the castle and into a decadent world of orgies, opium, power schemes, revenge and decapitations.”

Masque Of Red Death is set to shoot either at the end of this year or early next year.
