It’s one and done for Resident Evil at Netflix, with the service cancelling the video game adaptation after one season. Deadline reports that the action-horror series has been cancelled, citing disappointing viewership against the streamer’s “cost vs. viewing” metrics.

The series released on July 14th and aired in the shadow of Stranger Things 4. However, even with that in mind, the show did not improve on its ratings the way Netflix’s breakout hits have and slipped in its total hours viewed for its second week, then fell out of the top 10 for week three. It was also not a fan or critic favorite by any measure, making the decision easier for Netflix.

The show starred Ella Balinska, Lance Reddick, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nuñez and was desscribed as follows:

Year 2036 – 14 years after the spread of Joy caused so much pain, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and mind-shattering creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the sinister Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.
