Netflix Confirms ‘Green Light’ for Squid Game Season 2 With New Teaser Video
Netflix and Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk officially revealed that Season 2 of the smash-hit series is on its way. Season 2 had already been in the works, but Netflix made it official earlier today, confirming that Season 2 received the green light with a new teaser video, which you can see below.
Dong-hyuk, who directed, wrote, and executive produced the series, wrote a letter that accompanied the announcement and confirmed a few choice details for the upcoming season. He wrote, “And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”
Since its launch on the streaming platform, Squid Game garnered over three billion minutes watched according to Nielsen. Dong-hyuk also noted the show that it only took 12 days for the show to become Netflix’s most popular series ever.
Lee Jung-jae starred as Gi-hun in the series. Season 2 does not yet have a release date. The first season is currently available to stream in full on Netflix.
