Pamela Anderson and Dave Bautista star together in The Last Showgirl, and the film is getting an awards-qualifying theatrical run. Deadline reports that Roadside Attractions has set a December 13th release in Los Angeles for the film to qualify for award season, with a wide release on January 10th.
The movie has received a lot of buzz, specifically for Anderson’s lead performance. Gia Coppola directed the film, which atars Anderson as Shelley, a Las Vegas showgirl who is facing the prospect of her show closing after several years and must reconcile with the decisions she’s made and the community she has built as she plans her next act.
Bautista co-stars as the producer of Shelley’s revue as do Jamie Lee Curtis, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, Billie Lourd, and Jason Schwartzman. Kate Gersten wrote the film, which Roadside Attractions picked up following its premiere at Toronto International Film Festival. The movie won the Special Jury Prize at this year’s San Sebastián Film Festival.
