Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Sarah Silverman discussed Vanellope’s big “Disney princess moment” that goes down in the just-opened Ralph Breaks the Internet during a new interview. Silverman spoke with IGN about her character getting a Disney princess song, the subversive “Slaughter Race,” which was written by Oscar winner Alan Menken.

“I don’t know how it was conceived, the idea, because when we first started it there wasn’t a song and then a little while into it at one of the recording sessions they said you’re gonna have a song,” Silverman said. “You’re gonna have a Disney Princess song and I couldn’t believe it.”

She added, “And then to get to work with Alan Menken was insane. Besides writing so many iconic Disney songs, he wrote my favorite play, Little Shop of Horrors. So we got along famously and it was an incredible experience. I got to sing, I got to sing a Disney Princess song. It was subversive, the most subversive kind of version of that, I think, and it felt very fitting and I’m just so lucky.”

The film is a big hit already, grossing $126 million worldwide in its first weekend. 411’s Jeffrey Harris wrote a review of the film that you can see here.
