Paramount Pictures is pushing ahead with its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, with production possibly kicking off by the end of the year. Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller spoke with Variety and said that the project is moving ahead, with the hopes that filming can take place in 2019.

The new take on the characters is being written by Andrew Dodge (Bad Words) and will be the latest story centered around the characters. Paramount launched a live-action franchise in 2014 that while not beloved by critics, was a financial hit with $493.3 million grossed worldwide against a $125 million budget. The sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, saw diminishing returns with $245.6 million against a $135 million budget which put an end to that version’s run.
