Tom Cruise Set to Film Movie On International Space Station

May 5, 2020 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Tom Cruise’s newest film will take him all the way past the stratusphere and straight into space — literally. NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine has confirmed a report that came out yesterday from Deadline that Cruise is teaming with Elon Musk’s Space X to shoot a film with NASA that would be the first narrative feature film shot in outer space.

The film, which is in the very early stages, will be shot at the International Space Station and will likely see Cruise head there via Space X’s Crew Dragon, which will launch its first manned mission to the station later this month. Little is known about the film except that it is an action-adventure film that is not a Mission: Impossible movie, and that no studio is yet attached.

There’s no word on when cameras might start rolling on the movie or who is involved beyond Cruise, NASA, and Space X. Cruise still has to return to filming on Mission: Impossible 7 once he’s able to, which is now set for release on November 19th, 2021.
