Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, the third film in the blockbuster horror franchise.

This film will be the first in the trilogy to not be directed by James Wan. Instead, Michael Chaves will direct from a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, with Wan on board as producer. Wan also co-wrote the story with Johnson-McGoldrick. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, John Noble, Julian Hilliard, Charlene Amoia, Paul Wilson, Sterling Jerins, Shannon Kook and others. It will be released on June 4 in theaters and on HBO Max.

Here’s a synopsis: The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.
