Universal Starts New Deal With Lorne Michaels, First Film Will Be Baby Nurse
Deadline reports that Universal Pictures has signed a first-look production deal with Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video. It’s an extension of his ongoing TV deal with NBC Universal, but ends his production deal with Paramount Pictures.
The first film in the deal will be Baby Nurse, which stars Leslie Jones and Colin Jost. Jones is a special agent who is assigned to “the most humbling undercover role in the history of the FBI.” Austin Winsberg wrote the script. Michaels will produce while Jost will executive produce. The deal was made by Universal president of production Peter Cramer.
Cramer said: “Lorne Michaels is already such a vital part of the NBCUniversal family, so we are thrilled to formalize our long-standing relationship with him on the film side of his company. We look forward to collaborating with Lorne and his fantastic team as he continues his unparalleled run of success in producing quality, all-audience entertainment.“
