The Hardys Hoping To Add ‘Different Layer’ To TNA Slammiversary Ladder Match

The Hardys are set to compete in a three-way tag team ladder match at TNA Slammiversary, and they say they’re looking to bring something new to the concept. The tag team is set to battle The Righteous and The System’s Brian Myers & Bear Bronson at the PPV, which takes place on June 28th. It is a stipulation that, it goes without saying, the legendary brother team is well familiar with.

The Hardys spoke with The Battleground Podcast promoting the PPV. During the conversation, they spoke about their history with ladder matches and how they’re hoping to add something new. You can see the highlights below:

Jeff On If He Still Gets Excited For Ladder Matches:

“I always get excited, but it’s a good kind of excitement. Because we’ve done so much with the ladder match, and still trying to figure out new things to do. So yeah, it’s kind of what I live for, man. And anytime we’re involved in the ladder match, it’s my comfort zone for sure. And I get excited man, to come up with some things and put it together and see what happens. And naturally it’s a little intimidating; we have children now, so the fear of injury is always going to be there, but the fear is kind of part of the fun as well.”

Matt On Adding More Layers to the Stipulation:

“Yeah man, the creative juices are always flowing, especially when we have a ladder match. Last year’s Slammiversary, we end up having a tag team ladder match. And the very cool thing about it was, something that was very different and unique is we had a cable ladder dropped from the roof. And that’s something Jeff’s had in his back pocket for almost twenty years after TLC 2. He had that idea and he’s been trying to incorporate that in something, and last year we were finally able to make it work. And we want to do that; we want to put a new layer into the ladder match, something different and unique and make it special and something that stands out.”

Matt On What a Hardys Ladder Match Has To Deliver:
“I think more than anything else, people get excited. If they hear a ladder match, they automatically think Hardy. I think Hardy Boys and the ladder matches go hand in hand. That was our inanimate object in the TLC concept obviously, and I think whenever people see that, they want to see excitement. I think they want to see innovation, and that is what we are working on more than anything else.

“I think in this match, we’re going to find ways to be innovative and put different layers on the ladder match that have never been done before. And I think we are better at doing that than anyone else in the game, and I think we demonstrated that last year and that’s what we plan on doing again this year and we’re in there right now.”
