BACKSTAGE Josh gets a word with JBL. He still has the old WWE title but the name tag says John Cena. He says he’s been kicking ass for years and winning championships. He says he’s planning on busting Cena open tonight. Cena needs to focus on his music career because tonight he’s going to quit. Solid but unspectacular promo from JBL.

Eddie Guerrero v Rey Mysterio

Cole talks about how Eddie just hasn’t been able to beat Rey Jr in recent times. I don’t like turning Eddie and he’s so awesome it just isn’t working. Crowd is still clapping him and chanting “Eddie” here. Rey has taped ribs. Eddie slaps Rey, who slaps him back and wails away with more attitude than I ever remember him having. Eddie is too powerful though. Rey kicks in the ribs as a receipt and mounts for punches. Eddie bails but Rey chases. Eddie was playing possum and Rey gets thrown into the ring steps. Next he rolls Rey back in to break the count and then drags him back out again and posts him. Rey gets dumped back first onto the announce table. He picks Rey up and does it again. Crowd is chanting “Eddie” again. He considers putting Rey through the announce table but the ref stops it. Eddie hammers on Rey instead and Rey is struggling to defend himself. Dropkick gets 2. BACK SUPLEX gets 2. Rey just got driven onto those bad ribs. Shades of Wilbur Snyder is hooked but Rey armdrags out. Rey tries for a rana but Eddie just throws him off face first in the release powerbomb for 2. Eddie rips the bandages off Rey’s ribcage. Half crab from Eddie and he knees Rey in the back to stretch that injured area. Rey has bouncebackability though and hits an Ensiguri. Both men are hurt. Rey hits a monkey flip and the springboard diving headbutt gets 2. Rey with punches but Eddie dropkicks the leg away. Boston crab, nay, a Liontamer from Eddie. He switches over into the more traditional Boston crab. Rey nearly gets the ropes so Eddie drops into an STF. Rey got too close to the ropes though and he makes them. Eddie throws Rey under the ropes and sets up the ringsteps. Crowd is still chanting for Eddie. Rey bails on spotting the ring steps but Eddie pounds him until he’s too weak to block. Rey hooks a leg and drives Eddie into the ringpost. 619 around the ring post! Rey now has focus and he’s working that spine area. Back to a brawl and Rey bounces off the ropes with a big boot. Springboard crossbody gets 2. Spinning heel kick from Rey and he heads up top. Seated senton gets 2. Rey pounds away some more in the corner and almost tires himself out. Rey misses a charge though and posts himself. To the ropes and Eddie hits a superplex for 2. Eddie can’t believe it’s not a three count. THREE AMIGOS but Rey gets out in the third and knocks Eddie onto the ropes. Chavo Guerrero is out here. Cheat! Eddie bails for a chair while Chavo is protesting something. Rey trips Eddie up and dumps Chavo off the apron. 619 connects but Eddie falls right by the chair. Rey springboards RIGHT into a chair shot at 18.33. Ref sees it and Eddie gets disqualified. Might I point out I was the only person to back Rey Jr to win this match. I thankya.

POST MATCH Eddie just wears Rey out with chair shots and they’re STILL chanting his name.
